That's not true he will have to be working at least 30 hrs/wk and 25yrs old+
or have children, then it's 16hr
You and your girlfriend are classed as 'partners' so one of you gets paid it but it is based on both your hours and incomes. assuming one is over 30hrs then the other is irrelevant.
Also confused more by being based on what you earnt last year.
Hour drop might help that, but assuming your other half does't earn a lot you should already be claiming it

i also don't think the NHS exception (at least with respect to WorkingTax Credits will kick in unless Child Tax credits or a disability is awarded.)
As for other reasons to get it I do not know.
-check anything I say with current rules, a Budget was just given or I interpreted it wrong.

Either way, in April Tax code goes up so you should be some £200 (I dunno check) quid better off anyway
