Went to visit the old folks this weekend & found this old skool Raleigh Mustang just wasting away. It's seen better days, much better, but it was still cool to see it with so many original bits on it. I thought some of you guys might appreciate seeing some pics.

Sadly it's not going to be going anywhere soon looking at the state of the chain, the bent forks, the rust spots, rusted rims, & god knows whatever else will probably be seized.

I had 2 of those, both were nicked, one from outside the paper shop, one from my folks shed :(

I had a black n white one before the marbled ones, twas my 1st ATB!

my first mtb did hundreds of miles on mine! great bike as the lavadome i got when i was 12 felt amazing after that!!

My mate at school had one of them, 15 speed SIS, and I had the Lizard with 18 speeds of SIS lushness!

Mmmmm.....the memories

I remember seeing 1 of those being powered to a top 10 sport NPS finish in an early margam park race, did a double take even then. nice trip down memory lane :)

Wow what a seriously sophisticated piece of kit................well in comparison to my 1994 Townsend Beartooth it was !

These old classics are great at making you apreciate your later bikes

I wouldnt worry too much about that rust either...theres plenty more metal in the tubes to hold it together.

  So true. I had one in black & white. Heavy metal

They were quite comfy and sturdy i found, perhaps more in common with teh early clunkers.

I had one as my first MTB, :D just like that, second hand, i sold it cant remember why, then a black and white one came up, pre loaded with accessories, and i got it half for xmas. :D sure the black n white ones had riser bars come to think of it! wierd oldest one after new ons, start as ya mean to go on eh! too true...

Where abouts are ya? i'd hate to think of it going to the skip!
