ouch - bust open a broken power adapter for a network hub thingy and accidently touched some metal parts with thumb and finger - ouch!

Yes one shouldnt break open those things, but curiosity got the better of me (it had just been plugged into the mains as well)

i got hit with 11,000 volts a couple of years ago , knackered my short term memory big time :(

Pissed on an electric cattle fence by mistake years ago
pulsed 240v through the nether regions not a great experience i
can tell you
Mick :)

I was at Glastonbury in '95.Hitched down.Im standing wondering how the hell im going to get in without a ticket when the people i last got a lift to the site from said there was a security guard taking money to lead people up to the fence and help them over.
I 'joined' the party without paying and followed them across a field. At the far end we came to a fence and had to cross that to get to the main security wall[this was a farmers anti cattle fence, not the security one].

The guard said we need to get over this and thought but wasnt sure if it was electrified. He touched it,Nothing. He touched it again, still nothing so announced it was safe and switched off.He then swung a leg over and sat to let the rest come across. That was when he discovered it pulsed every few minutes

That was one of the benefits of being a PAT tester what one can do with 3750volts of low current to wake oneself up on a monday morning and any other time one needed the buzz, hangover mornings especially.

Anyone tried that bit of quackery from the past, the violet ray device, just fab, love it, it actually makes me feel alive.

( Oh and am not going to say NWFS, because you shouldn't be watching it at work)

Then there is the TENS machine, maternity TENS are about the best of the consumer machines, especially if they have a boost button. Then there are people even using the output from audio amplifiers using different music for different effects. Oh and I have known a few electricians that abuse the Megger insulation tester.

great isn't it? you feel really alive after at least if it's a small shock....had a couple of blasts off of welding sets in the past by earthing the unit through myself ...that was fun!
A mate's brother hit a main cable whilst in his his JCB digging, it shouldn't have been where it was apparently, he's really suffered, as you say short term memory loss and some long term completely changed the guy messed up and ended his marriage the lot, luckily very little pyhsical damage save a couple of burns and all his hair fell out which being 47 there wasn't a lot left, but eyebrows the lot!
As my old Sparky engineering mate used to say " it's sneaky stuff cos you can't see it like water or smell it like gas"

since i started as a sparkie in the early 90s ive been shocked at least 4 times a year.the bigest so far was a car lift in the college workshop in yarmouth.head sparkie tells me it was afe so i go ahead and start undoing some cable clamps on a 3 phase supply box.i saw white spots for days, the joints in my arms hurt like needles for weeks afterwards.my pliers were melted and 25 feet away...wasted a good pair that day. after a while you get used to it.next week i have a live supply to switch over to a new board and i cant isolate the power ...that should be fun

silverclaws just reminded me i used to know a girl who uesd a tens machine for performance piercing shows, she had metal claws and made sparks fly from her hands. she once skewered a guy through both cheeks with a long metal needle then pluged a lightbulb into his mouth
