I have some yellow Judy SL's - do these have Ti hardware??

also they look to have wiper seals around the top of the fork leg.....is it okay to run them without the boots on??

what year are yours? are they one piece or seperate brace? are the legs pressed fit in the brace?

Judy SL from 95/96 (seperate brace - and elastomere stacks - no springs) do have some titanium hardware (brake posts, shaft bolts and fork brace bolts) - 97/98 SLs (one piece brace - mix of one piece MCU and spring - spring/spring layout) does not have any titanium bits.

its not wise to use the fork without forkboots when you ride in wet or dusty conditions - also its recommanded to clean and dismatle/lube the fork regulary in order to avoid damage to the vital internal parts.

thanks

mine are the 95/6 version with the separate brace, although they have been upgraded with the spring kit

I used some autosol on the legs to clean up the yellow paint - the cloth turned yellow but the legs look good!

Is there a higher spec wiper seal you can use or am I havering again? Samurai seal or summat?? :?

dont know - might just keep the boots on - they have cleaned up well.....loooking forward to getting these mounted on the scott. just polishing a brace from my other judy xc cos the new ones can only run v's

should look okay with a polished brace

That is correct, the Rock Shox SID later ended up with a Samurai seal, I fitted these to all my early Judy's and SID's. Far superior, runs well with 15w oil or decent synthetic fork grease such as Maxt and the like. Very recommended if you use them often.

I myself ran my Judy SL for around 8 years on a work bike using the original boots and seals with not too much trouble. The original boots had foam rings I kept clean and regularly lubed with 15w.

With such boots and seals you can pretty much run the fork in any condition you want, IE all winter each year in mud and on road.

Iirc at the time White Brothers used to make upgraded seals and cartridges for the Judy range. Good luck in finding any though. :)

On a related matter. I've just got hold of some Manitou 3s that need some tlc. Does anyone know where I can get some seals and elastomers?
