Evening!

I'll get some good pics of my clockwork taken over the weekend and post them on here...
I too had mine repainted at graphicshack in Bristol, it looked stunning and the pics i took at the time didn't really do the neon paintwork the justice it deserved.

Heres a couple of old pictures from 1990, a very young me at the Malvern hills classic !

slightly modified, even back then, sti units swapped out for thumbies and ss5's, bar ends i actually cut down ??, sure the seat post was originally crome, the bike evolved , had a gold Use post ,which i got from the Malverns one year when they became trendy
I will search for more orig pictures at some point !

Bloody brilliant mate, just what this thread needed.......top job fella, thank you for sharing, and if you do find any more please feel free to add them. :cool:
 
A couple more pics from back them, which interesting shows what mountain biking was going through in the early 90's

Of note :

1) purple skewers, they were becoming very fashionable then
2) your notice a grip shift sticker on the fork,I had a pair of the original foam gripped ones which I swapped as they kept mis shifting ( always up with modern technology, even back then!)
3) Bula sticker, coz they were well cool then ! along with power bar and etto stickers, etto as worn by Tomac were "the" helmet then.
4) your see a black Velo saddle, these were cheaper than Flites which were becoming evermore popular back then.
5) under the front mech, you can see on some of the pictures is a black plastic thing ?! this stopped the chain from dropping of the granny ring
6) saddle bags were acceptable
7) I was cool back then with my Fat City water bottle ! :cool:

I bought a Clockwork frame and forks in '91, built it up and cycled around Europe in '92. This is the bike at the top of the Galibier - just as well I didn't cycle up it for the view:

And this is on Mont Ventoux, from the Malaucène side. I left the bike at the snowline and walked to the top:

I left home in January and got home again in August. Made it to the Champs Elysées for the last stage of the Tour that year. No problems at all with the bike, other than two punctures in 8 months - the second one was on my last day on the continent, while racing against the clock and a bastard headwind to catch the ferry at Cherbourg... :evil: I still have the frame and forks, in honourable retirement, scratches and all. I'd sell my kidneys before I'd sell that. Will build it up again one day. Sigh...

bugger me rich, thats an impressive story, and the pics are brilliant, and you still have the frame too.........just excellent... :cool:
