What's the better deal $300 for an ageing, corroded rear derailleur that probably didn't shift great when it was new and will probably be impossible to index now; or..................

$170 for a brand new 2008 XTR Shadow Carbon rear derailleur (lightest rear mech ever BTW) that shifts like buttered silk and looks like it fell off an alien spaceship?

Retro is only fun if it doesn't detract from cycling pleasure IMHO.

You´ve got a point there. Even being a rare item, this madness and the unger for profit is making these parts more expensive, faster than they should.

I think the japanese (or chinese, or oriental in general) are a bit more crazy than some german guys...
