Front mech - most hateful part of a build, in 20 years and a dozen bikes i've had one that worked straight out of the box with no adjustment needed....... i cried that day.

Adjusting cup and cone hubs so that they're just right when the quick release skewer is tightened.

and me, get them just right, but when I do lock nut up the cone always moves

Getting the rear wheel out of Klein rear-entry drop-outs, while simultaneously squeezing the tyre past the V-Brake pads and getting the chain off the cassette and round the QR skewer, all without scratching the frame.

Replacing an original bottom bracket when i have no idea if its gonna move, im happier believing it will than finding out its a right bitch to get out.
finding out why my freehub keeps catching dragging the mech forward for a moment, in case its an arse of a job, replacing chain and casette on same bike. In fact i know there are a hundred issues with the current hack/daily rider that i continue to ignore at my undoubtedly future peril. That one job is going to lead to another. Riding same bike has lost all pleasure though :cry:

I know this is the muddy bit of the forum but, I just can't get bar tape done right. It either runs out before I reach anywhere near the stem or the hateful stuff just unravels the moment I touch it.

Cones are easy. I just over tighten them slightly and then push with one cone spanner momentarily before pulling with the other one when tightening the cone against the locking nut. It always seems to adjust perfectly.

I love setting up m960 v brakes, a pleasure and easy to get perfect. I hate setting up Paul's v brakes, what a crap job and I never got it right, eventually sold them and put my XTRs back on. I hate trying to solve creaking sounds somewhere on the bike. Currently have creaking from seat/seat post on hei hei and cranks on yeti. I love cleaning a chain with a chain cleaner, so satisfying. I hate changing tubes and tyres. I love cabling.

I'd like to update my hatred of setting up front mechs.

True hatred is dual pull front mechs. I'd never owned one until last month and now I have two of the buggers. They are especially evil if you are trying to use the bottom pull, I'm sure they are super top pull.

Polishing stuff is mind numbing at times. Really enjoy all aspects of wrenching and find it quite relaxing, except whens things start going wrong.
