So, looks like I've started with the bars.

Next step is the stem. Anyone know what size Azonic he used?

I'm not sure how drastic I'm taking this thing but I definately want something inspired by that bike in Dirt. I'm thinking of Judy DH instead though.

Also, I really want to try and clarify what frame size he had, the top tube seems to slope to just about where the rear tyre is. All 17" frames I've seen look too big in comparison.

I'm kind of thinking of a mix between JMC hardtail and a tiny bit of Shaun Palmer's Slalom hardtail.

Hey, that's pretty cool. Did he ride that in Dirt too? On the other bits of the vid? I never remembered getting a good look at that bike. I got in to MTB after JMC died and didn't realised he'd passed until around '97. It was the same day as my birthday.

Years ago I wanted to get a cheap red Hardrock and just put risers on it but I couldn't even afford that.

To me, that hardtail was what probably started off the whole all round play bike.

This is going on the back burner! Think if I do build it up over time, I'll do a more updated version. I rode a Team MBUK M4 years ago with XTR V Brakes and it felt great.

Sure did - if I remember rightly, it's in the last section, riding across moorland...

Here's a cool recently unearthed pic of the bike at 'Bike95' courtesy of jonny666 - never seen those Avid levers with red clamps before or since, everything else looks do-able.
