Jan 11 1992 GT Avalanche

Today's old GT, a 1992 GT Avalanche in Dry Ice, another of GT's special paint jobs. This model was also available in Baja Blue. I have one in the blue hanging in my frame room waiting to be built. Maybe I'll get to it yet this winter. Originally spec'd with Deore DX with an XT upgrade on the shifters. This was another of the first year Groove Tube bikes featuring the True Temper GTX tubing with the indented top tube hiding the cables. GT ovalized flip flop stem, GT alloy handlebars, GT/A'me anatomic grips make up the cockpit. Ritchey Vantage Expert rims with DX hubs and DB SS spokes.

A few more pics for you on this one. Have noted a few of these on Retrobike over the years. I actually haven't had this one very long just having picked it up a few months back. This model was also available with a Rock Shox 20 option in 92.

Kinda fun staring at these old bike spec sheets and remembering the good old days. Especially for those of us that worked in shops and got to assemble and work on them over the years.
