I bought a Jamis Diablo '90 recently, and I really like it, but it is a very heavy bike.
I don't want to change it to much to make it lighter as it is all original except for the tires.

So I searched for a lighter frame to build up and came across this very nice Jamis Dragon '96.

It took me some effort to get it here as the seller didn't want to send it to Holland, and I had to ship it via a forwarding company.
Shipping cost me more then the bike, but who cares :D

Today I finaly got it and it I really love it!
It is a lot lighter then the Diablo, a nice raw steel color with clear coating and very nice details.

Build up will be XT 737, Syncros post, Mavic 517/XT/IRC wheels, Rond WP3 fork, with some red details.

I will post pics of the parts later, now I'm going to stare at my frame

Thanks, this club is expanding fast, it is doubled the last few days  .
I think this might be a '96 according to Bikepedia, because of the 1 1/8" steerer.
The bigger steerer solves my problem of finding a good fork, I found a nice piece of dutch craftmanship, a Rond WP Pro3.

The parts
Wheels: Mavic 517 met XT M737 naven
Tires: IRC Piranha
Crank: XT M737

Rear mech: XT 739
Fork: Rond WP3

Post: Syncros hardcore

and a quick build to see how the red fork looks.

Is there a sadlepost shim from 26.4 to 26.8?
I can't find one.

Not sure on the red forks. I'd be looking for some nice Judy XC's to return her to original spec, but I admire your patriotism by going Dutch :D
Are you planning to strip the frame back and go for new decals and a re-coat? Thats what I intend doing with mine (once I finish its stand-in that is!).
If we both need the same decals then we could split the costs

I thought a little Dutch touch would be nice, and this was offered on a dutch forum last week for a nice price, I don't know how the red looks when the bike is finished.
When I come allong a good Judy I might change it.

My decals are still o.k., except for the one on the seat tube, so if you can get these decals please do, ofcourse I will split costs.

This build is coming slowly to a finish.
I fitted a Syncross stem, which is resprayed black, waiting for decals.
The Rond fork is sold and replaced by a rigid fork which I had lying around, I think i suits very well.
Last thing I need are shifters, I got the last few bits yesterday (BB, chain, cables) so it can be finished when I got shifters.
Some pics with therigid fork, might replace it when I find a nice bouncy fork.
Appolagies for the modern tires, I needed a wheelset for fiiting the fork.

.......i love the frame , i managed a shop for a guy for what seems like decades ago, and we stocked jamis, the black diablo, was such a quick seller, and the dragon, well i loved the detail and the weight, the rear cable guide etc, they were never in stock, i always pre sold. a very cool bike and deserves a good fork....., though i do like the rigid fork.......mmmm 8)

......just a thought a stunning fork, 1 1/8" STEERER....pace with carbon legs and gold stantions...........now that would look awesum with the frame..... 8) :D
