Jamis Dakota - 1992 ?? Help

Anyone able to nail down the year of my Jamis Dakota please? I've settled for 1992 but can't quite remember how I came to that conclusion. I originally guessed at 90-92, but I could be a country mile out. I'd love to know. Only original bits now are frame / fork, and Spectre wonderbars / stem / seat post.

No one ? Makster? From past posts, he seems to know his Jamis bikes. I don't have sufficient posts to PM him, if someone might be kind enough to bring to his attention. Still very keen to nail down year. Frustrating the heck out of me not knowing. I would have bet my house someone on retrobike forum would have had some idea. Tah.

Im going from very distant memory but i think this would be 1993, and Deore LX spec, tig welded sourced from Fairly in the Far east. came with Spectre branded finishing kit, bars stem, seatpost etc, and the same year as the Dragon.

Happily stand corrected, but they sold quite well and were well put together understated bikes to be fair.

Just dug out the spec sheet for you,, it confirms colour, full spec, and weight which is nice. Sadly i haven't found an advert for this model, I'm presuming it was because it was the launch year of the Dragon.

Colour sounds likely 'Bordeaux platinum' as it's an odd claret red with spangles, that doesn't really show through in my photos.

Around 93 I was very close to pushing the button on a Diablo, but decided that I couldn't really justify the spend at the time. So I ran away and didn't buy anything. The girlfriend / wife was living in Poole which I recall was where the importer was. The sheet in your photo looks very much like the one the chap at importers showed me. It was probably at the back end of 93, so might have been a 94 sheet that I saw because I recall having a choice between Diablo and Diablo LE. Didn't pay much attention to the higher end models as Dakota upwards was a definate non starter for me cost wise.

Not getting Diablo at time always niggled me, so have since swept up this Dakota which is a go to ride.

Also have a Dragon, Prestige like your brochure shot. Reckon the Dragon is probably 94/95 (lacquered finish, but with different style decals), as I think after this (96) they dropped the Tange Prestige tubing :-(

Would that add up?
