I guess many of you will already have seen Jacquie's pictures on Flickr, but for those who haven't:

Checked the Flickr pictures, not many of the early days on there.

Saw her at the Man v Horse in the late 80's when they first allowed bikes to race alongside the runners and riders-she certainly jazzed things up a bit! I don't think she stopped talking[loudly] for the whole race-brilliant!

The fretless banjo is pretty amazing - I don't think I've ever seen one before. A few people play fretless guitar on occasion (Pat Matheny for one) but banjo? I can see that it might work ok though, as long as it's mostly single note stuff. Getting the intonation spot on for chords would be a nightmare

True.

What I really like about Jacquie's pictures is the way the bikes are there with the baking and the bin-raiding, and the banjo playing and writing and travelling. They're not on eBay, and they're not garage queens - they're just wonderful, original handmade bikes that have been part of someone's life for 25 years - built for riding, and ridden.

Well, having followed that link and watched/listened to some fretless banjo footage I think it's a concept that works really well. The way you can glisse into notes really suits the character of the instrument, in my humble opinion at least.

Just goes to show that you can learn something new every day - fretless bass (which I play), fretless guitar, but banjo really was a new one on me !
