Jackie Connor (MKM) cycle

I recently acquired this frameset & had a quick build from my spares box this afternoon.

Jackie Connor was a 70's/80's sponsor of the Regent CC, Glasgow,-- now sadly disbanded see: http://regentcyclingclub.synthasite.com/
A local businessman, filling station & cycle shop owner & keen club cyclist himself.
I understand he bought framesets in from various builders- (this is an MKM) & had them transferred in his own livery.
Fortunate enough to own 2 old Regent jerseys although I was never a member.
I've been saving the period Mavic SSC wheels for a suitable frame such as this- they were built by Keith Lambert, Bingley, small flange Record.

Just waiting for the snow to subside to go for a roadtest!!

Interesting and nice looking frame. How do you know that it is an MKM? Can you find a number anywhere?

MKM

Frame purchased from Hilary S. who confirmed the complete provenance.
Frame number 5185 puts it at 1978 approx & is identical to a previous MKM I owned & regret selling so when this came up I couldn't resist.
The transfers are now peeling at edges & I'll enquire of Nick @ H.LLoyds if he could do replacements.
The sponsored jersey is a wee bonus.
I've been asked by browsers what components are on it- bearing in mind it was a quick build with spares & not "period" by any means-:

Headset.......Record
BB...............Record
Stem/Bars...Cinelli
Shifters........Simplex
Brakeset/levers......Modolo Professional (mint)
Seatpost.......Woodman (Carbon!!!!!!!)
Saddle..........Turbo
Derailleurs.....Record & Suntour
Chainset........Chorus
Pedals/Clips...TA/Christophe
Wheels..........Record small flange on Mavic SSC sprints
Sprockets......Regina

Will be visiting a few jumbles in the North of England next month & hope to pick up some more appropriate parts.....
Thanks for the interest.....
