It's pronounced "Fah-jean"...

As far as watching modern racing goes, I just can't after the Lance ordeal and accusations of motors in frames etc. I just go to the local cyclocross or track races that aren't UCI.
I think its a farce but old habits...but £30 a month now so its disciples only need apply.

I was reliably informed that in Italian a C on its own is a soft-c 'ch' sound (hence Cinelli is 'Chinelli'), whereas a 'ch' is more of a hard-c 'k' sound (hence Bianchi is 'Bianki'). Mind you, a C followed by an I might be different, again. Luckily I don't own any Italian bikes so it's not my concern 😄

I have it live on my HBO Max account. I'll admit I took a peak, like the crack addict I am, and got bored of pogacar and how boring it was. It just feels like you just get yelled at with in ears to just control the pace and keep your guy in the front or pace up to the break to catch the break at the end when they're tired. There's no Panache or style anymore. Everyone has the same riding technique. To my eyes at least. I'm a curmudgeon that feels in ears, mega million $ sponsorship and the wind tunnels killed cycling. It's led to the guys and gals just being horse's whipped to win at any cost.

In my opinion I also feel like Poga will be the new lance. They just haven't figured out what yet. When whoever is giving it to him or has devised a new oxygen regime or whatever gets fired or transferred the whole peloton will get a lot faster. Just like the 90's.

If you can't tell, I'm skeptical and burnt out on the pro's. 😂

This is retrobike where the strapline is 'cumudgeons r us' so you are far from alone.

The great Alan Moore theorised the success of Marvel movies was due to middle aged men being unable to grow up and make a natural detatchment from their childhoods (this from a bloke who writes graphic novels). The circus of pro road racing is equally based on the idea of the superman and the fan comments on FB I see only back this up. A complete detatchment from the critical eye and underwriting the incredible performances with a stock list of excusenik comments that echo the banal corporate press releases that cycling journalism has become.

Off the topic of pronunciation by miles but its your thread @Junonada so I feel on safe ground. :)

Eh, I'm just a shoot from the hip/say what you mean type of person. I was hoping for some cool pics of faggins. But I'm okay with wherever the convo goes as long as it's respectful and not talking down to anyone.

If anyone else has some funny pronunciations to add that's cool. Or pics of Faggins. My Faggin is the 2nd best riding bike I've ever ridden after that Mondonico I have. I don't know what it is??? I've ridden tons of high zoot grail bikes and the faggin just blows them away.

Most people here say campagnolo phonetically without the g sound. But I've heard most Italians pronounce it more like shuampahnolo. Is that correct? Because that would make chinelli the wrong pronunciation of cinelli. 😂 And I've always done celeste as seleste not chileste. 🤔😂🤣

I have one of their jerseys. Very nice but they must be fighting with one arm behind their back in English speaking countries.

I hear that. Pics please and thank you!

I have one in plain old SL waiting for stripping. I had intended to 'rat' it like one I rode in London way back, but realised, after some tinfoil, the chrome was in really good shape so strip and polish it will be. It is a great bike, and my perfect fit. Love what you've done with it, though I won't be adding decals it should end up very similar.
