It's nice to be considered for such things!

Nov 08 I was made redundant from a job I really enjoyed. I was very lucky and landed a fantastic job straight away paying a lot more than I was previously on.

Now my current job isnt the most secure in the world, its a startup company funded by the same people who are constantly wondering how they missed an olympic shaped hole in their accounts.

Since November 08 I still occaisionally receive the odd recruitment call, and normally I tend not to pay much attention unless it sounds to be of particular interest. Well late last week I had such a call, from a recruitment bod in Geneva, wondering if I woul like to put forward for a job in Zurich.

Now the job description sounded quite interesting, but the experience & qualifications expected were beyond what I have, and this was reflected in the wage & package. However they said they were keen to put me forward to a peer review and if I pass that on to the company with the vacancy.

Well I have just heard back from the company offering the position and they would like to know some more info.

I very much doubt I am a serious contender for the role, and even if I were to be offered it, I wouldnt be sure if I would accept it as moving to a foreign land is a large step!

So, I am quite excited, but not really expecting much more to come from it. As I said, sometimes it is just nice to be considered. :)

Just think, you could have a Toblerone for breakfast every morning.

Might be just the thing for you! Europe's a very small place.

Always nice to be headhunted by people who dont have bones through their noses and sharp spears

Go for it, nothing ventured nothing gained

my own experience has been a lot of lip service.

you job agency bloke would get a bonus for getting you the job whether you are suitable or not

smile, take a pinch of salt and enjoy it if it happens but dont get upset if it doesnt.

and get me a big toblerone while you're at it.

What LGF said: The agency stand to make a large amount of commission if you're recruited... so they will put you forward even if you're not well qualified for a position.

However, your avatar lists "Leeds & London"... having worked briefly in London, Leeds AND Zurich, you would have to be an absolute mentalist to turn down the opportunity.

Why would you willingly stay in either of those $h!tholes when you could be putting your bike on Swiss Rail's special bikes-only compartment and heading up into the stunning trails around Lake Zurich?

Seriously, life is too short not to take that opportunity, should it arise.

Good luck.

i agree with the rest here, i used ot go through agencies, and get calls all the time, but never hear anything afterwards

You mentioned that something does not feel right where you are now. And you have a job offer. And they offer to train? Too good not to consider.

I say put it all in front of your family and weigh the pros and cons, and let them advise you.

Twas me, I would be excited as hell. But include the family in your decision.

Good Luck either way.

Terry (in almost bankrupt California).
