Italian tyres?

I have been wondering; are there any retro Italian MTB tyres to be had? You see I want to do a 100% Italian build on my Bianchi and apart from tyres I've got it licked.
Whilst on the subject of tyres, does anyone have a pair of NOS amberwalls going spare for my Canondale build? Not bothered what they are as long as they are the M word.
Cheers

Got some Geax MTB ones - green wall semi-slicks. Someone had them on the for sale board a few weeks ago also. I'm not sure if anyone imports them into the UK - bought mine when I lived abroad.

I've got a Vittoria MTB tyre, it was on the front wheel of a dumped naff bike left outside my house for some godforsaken reason. I chucked all but this wheel away.

The tyre doesn't look as if it's anything special but it's OK for the wife's 'comfort bike'.

Can post a pic if you like?

BITD Vittoria really knew nothing about MTB tyres.

You might have to compromise on these and go German or French.

The "correct" tyres for your bike are Wildgrippers in that tint of green that is oh so close to Celeste.

Could search for veloflex's too, not sure if they ever made mtb tyres but the road ones are lovely, they smell nice

what were fitted to the team bikes?

They didn't. The only retro tire is Vittoria, but nothing worthy until they turned into Geax (and to Ibis for help).
Plus, they made a tubular tire (yes, they did, in 1991) with a Fisher thread pattern, but there's no way to find a pair - I haven't even seen one live.
I would put a pair of Contis with rust walls...
Bianchi team used Ritchey in the first years of the 90s, then Michelin
HEY, I've got a pic of Maria Paola Turcutto on a 1995 Bianchi Martini team bike under my eyes: Well: XTR throughout, Spring VLS fork (difficult to come by, Rock Shox paid them to close! They did! They offered them the exclusive distribution of RS forks, and the guys accepted), blackwall Ritchey Zmax tires.

Thanks for the help guys- looks like I'll just stick with the black Porcs then- saves spending any more.
I thought about the green wildgrippers as I have a pair but what with the frame, fork, saddle, cables, cage and bar tape all in celeste it might over egg the pudding. When I find some brakes to finish it off, I might post up both options and run a poll and let you lovely lot decide.
