I've just unbuilt my XLM frame to take some pics for a potential buyer, the last one is this above, what's your advice please :?:

Nothing shocking there, that's how Merlin built their chain stays to get proper clearance for the chainrings on the drive side ( unless there's a crack which I couldn't see on my tiny screen, which again wouldn't surprise me given Merlins track-record for cracking, I have a frame with cracked chain stays).

No visible crack, but i was wondering if that asymetrical stays is normal :?: I never feel anything wrong when riding.

I see the problem, your spending far too much on bikes and should spend some more money on garden furniture as at the momment, not even pikeys would steal it :lol:

As to the shape of the stays, don't look at the stays but imagine a central line and all looks straight for purpose

Unless I am completely missing something and in that case I am talking tosh.
 
the stay profile is fine. The small dent? on the left about 3/4 the way up, outside edge is nothing to worry about either.
