Isla Rowntree r.s.p titanium mtb frame/rockshox sid sl nos

its got agricultural looking crimps on both stays. whay would you bother building a nice frame, then crimp the stays with a pair of vice grips. looks like backyard mechanics chop shop job.

Gotta wonder whether it is the same frame. In that case it's a bit of shame. Minging as the original paint was (just my opinion), there was no reason it strip it. Why do that to the stays?

Is this not the same frame but with the original color sceme?

thats the one i was thinking of, pretty sure its a race replica type thing. could be wrong tho.
one obvious diff is the polished one has v-bosses but that one doesnt. although thats a bit odd for a custom built race frame isnt it? v-bosses and a disc tab?
looking again, its a fair bet that crimp is from an over tightened chain device, in theory shouldnt make it any weaker, and even if it cracked its not lkely to be terminal. destroys any value though imo
if not for that, the 400 start would be an ok deal, sid's and flite would be near 150 of that anyway.

Dent is not from a chain device, as it would be round the whole tube, looks like this has been slid into a stump or similar...

Plus back in the day a DCD or similar would have rotated rather than dug into a chainstay...

well 2 guys thought it was worth 450, kind of strange, even if you wanted a cut price ti frame there is cheaper. or maybe they just wanted the bits and reckon they can sell the frame on?

poss right, but i just dont see how you could put dent in like that without bending the whole stay unless it was from a clamp of some sort, and its in the right place for a chain device. could be the stay was bent and then straightened i guess.
