Is your bike worth more than your car?

A very recent development made me wonder.

I just sold my car and although I was not surprised or disappointed at the price I got for the car (Ebay) I would have never taken anywhere near that price for the bike.

Obviously the car was not the greatest thing to grace the roads.

So the questions are:

How many of us are in the position that their bike collection is worth more than their cars?

How many of us value (not considering money) and take more care of their bike(s) than their car(s)?

My collective bikes are possibly worth about the same as my truck.. but that's only about £500's worth so it's not exactly saying much

one of my bikes alone is worth more than the three cars on the drive together- wouldn't have it any other way

I'm in that club! My car cost me £300 about 18 months ago. Just an old Cavalier but it's reliable enough - although I need to get someone to fit a new fuel tank pretty soon.

I only cover about 3 - 4k miles per year in visiting distant friends, carrying bikes & other stuff and when I'm late for work. If I needed it for work or regular long distances with kids etc.. I'd get something newer but for my own leisure use it's all I need.

Blows my mind when people at work spend thousands on a car that only drives more than a 3 mile trip once two or three times a year and then change it every other year for no other reaosn than getting that new number plate. At least my average trip distance makes it actually worth owning a car!!

up until a month ago every car i have had for the last 12 years was worth less than my bikes.

funniest thing was once i drove a h plate audi 80 to the alps with 2 mates, there was almost £13,000 on the roof and i only paid £80 for the car!!

Not that I have admitted it to 'you-know-who'...oh yes, my bikes (individually) are worth more than my car. Bit daft really, isn't it?

i'd value my cars at skoda £700, my golf £1000, vife's golf £800, beetle, £300, saxo £600 total £3400

bikes khs £300, specialized £250 inbred £300, saracen £150 total £1000

so no!


however i'm getting rid of 2 cars but its still no

yes bikes worth more than car here, but again my car's only worth about £500.
