Is Vinyl on the Revival? BBC Vinyl day

It never really went away despite what the media writes.

Cassette tapes are still popular too along with VHS

I have to admit though, I havent played a physical CD for about 4 years simply because the iPod is in the car and on the hifi.

One of my pals has just opened a record shop in Glasgow selling vinyl only. And not just your shit 1970s albums like all the others. On no, this is Scotland's only hardcore specific record shop. 12" singles of hardcore, gabber, happy, newstyle and terror flavours.

I realise that might not mean much to most but he reckons it's doing alright. And as I've only ever used vinyl decks and happen to love hardcore it's right up my street. :)

I still buy vinyl, even since switching to the dark side and buying serato
Cant beat taking a record from a sleeve and putting a needle on it :D

That is the less dark of the dark side though. I've been messing with my pals Traktor recently and it's impressive but still a bit too techy and less hands on for my liking.

Compared the the Fisher Price CDJ1000s though there's no contest.

Vinyl > Traktor/Serato > CDJ 8)

I never stopped buying vinyl. Only got a CD player when it got too hard to buy records. Am back on the vinyl trail now though - most vinyl releases come with download cards these days - sometimes even with option to download in better-than-CD quality. And pressing quality is usually a lot better and the premium isn't that much.

The darkest days for vinyl were the mid-90s and then the downward curve stopped and sales started going back up again. Some of the vinyl I have (Britpop mostly) from 94-97 is worth a fortune now as nobody bought it at the time.

I thought serato was cheating...until I tried Traktor! I suppose it's just technology moving on....but I love retro everything :D
