Well if you exclude the road version, these where from memory the first of their top end.
Though the company was called SRAM at the time unlike his advert implies.

Came on my Altitude as stock as well , wore the grip out quickly though. Quite nice to use really for a lazy ride and fun if you pop them on your bar ends

Best used with the four finger levers of the time, though the 2 finger are usable depending on how you ride.

The DB shifter was the first generation of 'twist grip' shifter introduced in 1988 by sram,, the CX's were launched in 89 as a road bike shifter so second generation really..
I have a couple of sets of these they are fragile as hell and not particularly nice to use on a flat bar.. , however a nice addition to a collection
