Is this decent for a Newbie?

I have a couple of modern bikes, which are great, but my eye has recently been drawn to retro bikes and, of course, I have been browsing eBay.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want something that I can ride and I liked to look of this:

I'm a newbie - I know nothing! But happy to know more, not least as I've just asked to go and see it.

Yes, it looks lovely. I have a couple of Holdsworths ( a 1952 La Quelda and 1976 Holdsworth Autograph, which is a lower range level bike than this Mistral), and they are lovely bikes. Given what the seller has said they have done to restore this one, it looks like a really good deal.

Totally agree. I'm selling a similar Holdsworth but with better kit elsewhere for £200 and it hasn't shifted
