Hi all. I picked up this classic ride recently, and I’ve been trying to positively identify it since. It’s Campy dropouts hint at something half decent...

I love to hear any insight you guys may have!

Cheers

:D Are there many non-Italian frames with Campy dropouts? I’d be interested in repainting and restoring its identity with the original decals if I only knew what the hell it is!

Remove the Colnago decals and put your name on it. Looks like a good quality frame and components.

No need to repaint it. Just ride it as is.

BB shell is reminiscent of Cinelli but they always had there name embossed on the BB shell.

Not sure a frame number would help.

Your most likely chance is if someone on here has had the same frame and knows what it is.

A lot of Holdsworths made independently were re-badged as Colnago as they were so well made and had similar lug work.

Looks well made though imho.

Re:

By the mid 50s Campagnolo ends were standard or an option for any decent British frame.
...and any decent European frame. In all probability, anyone anywhere who was building road frames using butted Columbus or Reynolds or Vitus tubing was using those Campag ends, too.
The somewhat clumsy curve into the spearpoint of the seatlug perhaps betokens a builder who was not over-concerned with such aesthetic niceties.. or didn't have time to be? That doesn't mean it's a bad frame. It might well be the equal of a Colnago.. in anything but cachet and resale value.
