Is this a crack

Going to try the spanner thing there.

After that I'm getting my better half to look at it while this 300 pound bear mashes down. On the bike.

I really doubt its a crack as it looks like a scratch but I find it odd how the fella got a scratch there

It only takes a cleaning with a rag that's got a bit of grit in it.....kinda follows the angle at which you'd give a BB a wipe over. I doubt it's anything to worry about...

Tried the spanner thing and it gives a loud bright pinging from bb and up, I tried it on the top tube but its got gussets on top and a little extra tube thingy for the seattube, it sounds decidedly more dull and less pingy which I'm guessing is because it's more reinforced/rigid?

Can I lightly sand the bare metal now to get a better picture or would that obfuscate the crack, if it is one?

If your crank falls off it's a crack if not your good to go.... But wear padded shorts!

Yeah anything aggressive like a wirebrush or sandpaper will kinda cover it up....
If it's giving a nice ping.....go ride...the further you go the more confident you'll be! It's not a lightweight frame or made of tricky stuff to Tig..

Reckon it'll clean it up a bit more and get those profile cranks popped on there
