Is someone in Brussels dictating how loud I want to hear

 It is not music that you listen too mikekim89....it is whining

I like the daily mash t shirt that says
"As an adult the right amount of alcohol I should consume daily is.........as much as I ******* want"

perhaps they could make one about music levels

I remember from when i had that brand that they weren't very sensitive and took a lot to get more volume. Buy more sensitive phones. I did this when i couldn't get my ipod loud.

You don't hear of a DB muted Hi-Fi...

Or motorcycle..

Ermmmmm.... there are noise restrictions on cars and bikes matey. . .

Also car noise levels are monitored round race tracks near housing. Hence Autocar couldn't drive the Zonda as the engine was to loud. The names of the tracks escapes me.
One to remember when the 6 lucky numbers come up. You may not be able to drive your dream drive round the nearest track

As TinTin40 said they are probably just less sensitive or harder to drive than your old headphones, like speakers, different headphones are a different volume for a given amplifier setting.

If you really want to get the best from hadphones use a dedicated headphone amp that runs directly from the line out of your source component, or perhaps one with a built in USB DAC if you're using a computer as the source.

If you want loud with any phones and quality sound too buy a portable or static headphone amp off Neco sound lab on ebay , he has a massive following and his stuff is top notch and reviewed way above its price ( start at £69.00 ) his amps are set loud to begin with and will drive any phones, but he will set the gain for free to your taste............you will not be dissapointed, read the reviews on the hi fi forums.... :D

My SENNHEISER HD570 are most certainly loud enough

Plus their open design means that everyone can share in my dubstep enjoyment*

*because of their open design I am only allowed to use these when in the room on my own

A lot of it is nothing to do with Brussels, but companies running scared of future litigation from people who damaged their hearing...while this may generally be in the USA, most PCs are made on Global designs. Also, putting in a weedy audio amp (unable to drive a decent set of headphones) is a cost saving.
