Is old better than new

Re:

Thank you gradeAfailure and Ollie again ;)

gradeAfailure really appreciate the links , unfortunately the components look too modern and cheap for my liking, I think I'm going to go the original component specifications , however I really do the look of those Onza Tyres , despite there horrendous pricing, it states a 26 x 2.25 width , dont suppose you know if this is the 'actual' inflated tyre width do you ?

Ollie.. :) NOS  really pleased you cleared that one for me, I was having difficulties working out on how I'd mount the pressure gauges let alone a 20lb NOS bottle within the frame, which led me onto where the hell you injected the stuff  but it all makes sense now.. cheers

If you go to http://www.commencal-store.co.uk you will pay 1/2 the UK price including delivery for Onza Ibex/Canis skinwall, they are a large volume tyre & are a lot taller than retro tyres of the same size.
You can also get from the same place Kenda small block 8 skinwall 26 x2.35 for £36 a pair inc delivery.

For daily use I use Splashbacks & Kenda small blocks on my 1980s Muddy Foxes & save the mint original tyres for special occasions.

A lot of people say the splashbacks only perform well in dry conditions, there was an offer recently on here ; a pair for about £15. Could be worth getting a pair for the summer.

Re:

Thank you iscervo and once again ollie

@ iscervo , I really like the look of the onza canis skinwall , but can only see all black ones on their site . ? do you have an additional link ?

@ Ollie , thanks once again,, I'm not really taken back with the splashbacks to be honest , its maybe there looks that put me off somewhat, good price however and really tempted to try some out,, have you any experience with these tyres ?

And a general question to anyone who could advise if the Onza canis 26 x 2.25's will fit in a retro diamond back frame or has their inflated actual size before I throw the dosh down the drain. !

NOS retro groupset - Exage level though. Tbh, easiest way to get a full retro groupset is buy a complete donor bike, sell the frame/forks and keep everything else.

I suspect the Onza tyres will probably fit, and due to the higher volume than old school tyres you'll be able to run them at slightly lower pressures. You just might not have as much mud clearance.

What year Diamond Back is yours?
