Just wondering, as I was selling an Item and a new member with only nine posts to his name said he would buy it.

I then asked if he could pay by paypal, he said no but would I give him my bank details so he could transfer the money to my account. I politely declined his request. I haven't responded to his last patronising PM.

Would anyone else give their bank details on a non secure site when asked by someone new? If so, please send all your bank details to me.

.

Correct answer...carry on lovely boy  (in a Windsor Davies stylee :D )

Its almost like a stranger coming up to you in the street and asking for them, you just wouldn't would you? :D :D

A sort code and account number would be on a cheque as well, so if you sent them a cheque they'd still have your details

There are some small security issues with giving out those details, but only if the bank is lax with it's security

You can set up a direct debit with just those details too

As for the PM that's a bit out of order.

I am fighting an Insurance company at the moment regarding direct Debit.

A Mr Barry Hughes has been paying his car insurance using my Co-op account  I was only told of this when I became overdrawn last week.

No, don't.
Believe me, just don't!
I work for a financial institution and if you saw the lengths we go to to protect customers' information, and the penalties for failure to do so.....
Givng out your bank details in this way just undermines all that.

I personally struggle to see why people can't set up a paypal account - it's so easy?
