Is it a Zaskar? No, it's a British Eagle EXS!

Sorry, obviously not.

But what have I just bought? Seller (local bike recycling place) reckoned it was an Alpinestars with GT stickers. I googled, and decided it was an Alpinestars T24. But now I'm not so sure.

Whatever it is, plan is to fix up for my daughter... it's a nice little frame!

Re:

Looks like a Kuhii Optimist with a shortened seat tube.

Someone else posted a 'what is it?' Question for the same bike and I promised to get a scan up of the MBUK review......which I haven't got round to doing.

Should make a good bike for your daughter.

Cheers

Good call... found a pic on google and I think you could be right.

Re:

On the money again LGF. The spec is right too, it explains the "mach" rear rim, which was standard fitment on my Summit too.

As soon as I picked it up I kicked myself for cutting the spokes on the "mach" / lx front wheel I had here... at least I didn't chuck the rim!

Frame itself looks identical to the Kuhii one though FWIW. I'm guessing that British Eagle's alloy frames were taiwanese sourced?

It's pretty nice IMO whatever it is, and looking at the price, it was never cheap, even if it was a catalogue bike...

Re: Is it a Zaskar?

Got this stripped down this morning. All came apart ok with very little swearing required. Really is a nice frame IMO - incredibly light and has to be worthy of better components. Back end feels remarkably stiff given the design. FWIW I'm fairly sure it's of Taiwanese origin.

We're in two minds re shelling out for powder coat vs stripping off the existing paint and going bare aluminium. Plan is for a weight-weenie-ish retromod-ish kind of build, 1x drivetrain, V-brakes and suspension forks and threadless headset/stem. I think I can do most of it from the parts bin but I will need to find some suitable forks. Nothing too beefy required given the rider, was thinking maybe some Indy SLs if I can find any... I thought about putting my spare Pace RC36s on but they would be wasted and the lighter I can build this the better.

Re:

Great find, I have been on the lookout for a British Eagle EXS for a while but they just don't seem to come up that often. Looking forward to seeing how your build progresses

Plan coming together...forks en route...

Pic shows original paint...

Who reckons they know what year it is?

Right, this project has now stalled for a year... and another has just arrived... I'm going to admit defeat and list it for sale... will try to do an ad later this evening.

Hopefully, I will complete this project that I bought from Captain Stupido:
