Is investing in retro safer than banks?

With all the financial doom and gloom and banks collapsing left right and centre wonder if it's time to close my one and only savings account (C&G paddington bear junior savers) and invest the money in a couple of new rides.

Not seen retro pricing plummet as yet and even if it does at least you'll have something to show for it. Could vintage, retro, classic be the one economic rock in these troubled times.

I am confusing everyone at the moment...The LTS & Sintesi are both hidden in boxes up the top of garage so when the proflex arrives saturday it wont look crowded!! :D

Why not?

I have ~£1000 in an old ISA that I haven't touched since 2000. It is worth less now than it was then. In fact it has never broken even.

I'm all for stuffing money in the matress but my company refuse to pay pension contributions this way. Instead it all goes to Norwich Union in a "(mis)managed fund". It too is worth considerably less than the money that has been put into it.

hmm even if prices do take a hit, I imagine once were the other side of the impending media driven gloom prices will soon huck up again.

just look at it all as industrial engineering art, then we may get a few russian millionaires investing :) (actually that would be bad)

with you on that one

Its all about perception of risk. The danger is that if white MTB tyres and manufacturer-specfic bottlecages have been over sold on a rising market then ebay traders will be unwilling to free up new stock and a crunch will follow.

The only real safeguard is if the chancellor can persuade the auction houses to swap such derivative retro items for gilt edged stock: turbo saddles & XT thumbies. [although i hear alot of people are hedging by moving their portfolios to gold ... annodised cranks, bars and hubs ....]

go long on onza porc bellies
