ipod/itunes help purleese

howdy. brought the laptop into work today to try and download itunes onto it (only have a dongle at home so would take a while)

anyway, went to itunes, clicked download and it says it has done it. plug phone in and itunes isnt on the computer anywhere. am i missng somethng? ipod is second hand btw.

is there an alternatine program to tunes? dont want to buy anything, just want to get my cd collection onto ipod for epic road trips.

what he says, if you have downloaded the setup file, it will be where you downloaded it to, so need to search.

You've downloaded iTunes but you still need to install it on your computer. Find the iTunes program you downloaded and then double click it to launch the installer. Once it's installed, it should automatically open when you connect your iPod.

Note that you'll first have to add your music library (My Music) to iTunes so you can sync it to your iPod but I think that's part of the iTunes install process. If it's not, then when you launch iTunes, it should ask you if you want to add the music from "My Music" that's already on your computer to iTunes.

itunes is the reason i dont have an ipod. truly aweful bit of soft ware. my computer is four years old, and was a budget one then, and it hates loading itunes when the missus wants to use it.

Only reason I've still got iTunes is it's good for converting WAV to MP3..

Heard rumour of some folk who like it (iTunes).. I find it a pita ..

I've been using iTunes for about 6 years without any probs apart from early battery issues in the ipods.

If you have an iPod enabled car head unit its great as the iPod stays hidden. I've used old Pioneer cassette players for years with the Pioneer iPod adaptor that uses the CD changer controls for track display and so on.

I can also drag & drop tunes onto my Sony Ericsson phone.

HOWEVER...

All the above can also be done with WMA, an external HDD, a USB enabled head unit and a phone with decent memory.

Its what you're used to I suppose.

And I believe that iTunes is MP4, iPods have very high quality DACs and iTunes music can be purchased at high bit rates if you pay for it.
