I can't seem to connect to the internet at home. Keeps telling me the line is busy :? disconnected all phones and event tried a wired phone straight into the socket which was working ok. It went form working to no working with no software changes or owt. Any ideas?

please

our probs turned out to be a knackard external phone line (the bit attached to the telegraph pole)

BT should check it out if they are your line rental people.

Have you tried turning it off and on again ?

Are you certain you haven't missed this weeks sacrifice to the online gods ? the interweb can be a harsh and vengeful mistress . I fear you have angered her .

Cheers guys, I've one more thing to try with the provider then I'll give SKY a phone.

If your modem/router is the only thing connected into the master socket via a working microfilter and it won't sync up then it's their problem. Your ISP should take it up if it's a BT line prob.

You can usually get on the setup page of the modem via a hardwired ethernet cable from your PC and see the status of what's going on regarding sync and connection.

Depending on your modem model you just point the IE/Browser page to it's IP address, eg. 192.168.1.1

Hopefully resolved, turns out at some point my broadband was 'turned off' so have to wait 48hrs for BT to reconnect it then another 48hrs for AOL to activate it  help desk guy did tell me realistically it would take 9 days
