Integrated crown race, is that a thing?

Hi guys,

I have a Marin fork from a Bobcat Trail (1993, I think). Is it possible that the crown race is directly machined on the fork itself? I tried removing it, but it really looks like it's one single piece.

Cheers

OK. That's good to know, because an integrated crown race would be silly, at best.
But also bad news because I can't for the life of me remove it.

hmmm

you could use one of these

but I often use one of these and one of these:

and there are some nice tips here...

Yep, I also prefer the last two, highly specialized, tools ;)

But this crown race has me stymied. I'll take a picture of it later on. You visually can't see any separation between the race and the crown. Which is why I started to believe it might be a single piece.

Re:

best tool I had for that is a metal tyre lever that came with 'something'
that's of no help but i could gradually tap the point in, working my way around and then lever it up a bit as the design allowed.

await the pictures.

Re:

I start with a wallpaper scraper and a small engineers hammer and work my way up to lump hammer and a bolster chisel.

OK, the image doesn't give it justice, but this is the best I can do with the mobile.

I can take a better picture with the macro lens, but that feels somewhat like an overkill :D

I must admit I feel slightly ashamed for not havng thought of checking that.

Does that mean I necessarily need to find a headset that comes with a similar crownrace?
