Insanity (IMO)

When there is no veloswaps available, US forum members don't want to help with buying & shipping and you cannot get the parts from anywhere else than eBay, that's when you have to pay too high prices... :(

Next time when you get nice Extremes from Veloswap, please send me some too!

I feel your pain AA...my Yo showed up on Swiss ebay and the guy quoted me something retarded like $350. Forget that.

The GCs were on some sort of Diamond Back, completely roached out bike. I offered the guy $20 for tires and he looked at me like I had three heads, and said, "Why?" I just said I needed them for a project and he was like, "I was hoping to get that much for the whole bike."

 Cool! Nice one  In here we don't have veloswaps and only place you can get vintage bikes are police auctions and flea markets. I don't do either of them since at least in the police auctions there are not anything valueable at all, maybe so POS Scott Peak with 200GS parts but that's it. Most of the bikes are crappy market bikes (equivalent of US Huffys).

The retro bike scheme in Finland is next to nothing and if they do collect bikes ,they collect road bikes not mtbs so there are not that many opportunities to buy domestic and that's why one must buy from Germany, UK and US...

i got a cannondale 3.0 MTB frame (it was a bike, but i quickly propelled the exage binwards, then removed the left hand crank as i remembered my M550LX is dearly departed)

it only cost me 30 quid. i've probably spent 2x that on it, but i have loads of blue bling now. just need paint and i'm done!
