Hi, looking for some info on these 2 pace hubs I have, I have had them for many years, they have come and gone and come back into my position a couple of times.
Unfortunatly my memory is not great due to past er... activities so cant remember much about them.

I had them built up onto the rims about 15 years ago by my local specialist bike shop near Dunsfold, now known as Beyond Mountain Bikes.

The front is a PACE carbon bodied hub built up onto a campag rim, very light, I think it has ti niples and DT spokes.

The rear is a pace one piece hub with a small grease point in the body, its built up on a mavic 521DH

Questions I have realy, are they any good/worth re-building up
Can they be striped and re-furbished? new bearings and such? tho I will say credit where its due, both wheels are still dead straight and run smooth!

Cheers guys.

Hi there,

Great wheels and deffo worth keeping, refurbishing :) thd front is an RC50 hub, but the rear us a lovely gorgeous original Pace hub, dating back to 1990/91 would have graced a few RC100's. Model number evades me now but look on the Pace archive if this site or my own humble site, address in my sig for more info.

I recently bought and sold a set of Atek rims, about middle if the road in the Campagnolo range of MTB rims, but gorgeous none the less :)

Hope that helps

Rich, Ti nipples!!! How much did they set you back :D

Rich is spot on.

The front RC50 hub can fairly easily have its bearings swapped out. I refurbed an RC50 a few years back, still not got round to building it up though. I seem to remember a Park tool (the XTR 8 pronged chainset tool, the one that is perfect for a Middleburn chainring lockring) was perfect as a jig for knocking the axle and bearings out. Bearings are a standard size and can be sourced easily. I got some SKF ones.

The rear hub should be rebuildable, though Pace were prone to using odd bearing sizes at the time. This could be the only sticking point.

Thanks for the info guys :)

Think I will just do a small strip down on the hubs and check them over as they both run quite smooth still.
