Always been a big Marin fan. Had an 1997 Eldridge grade and the frame was a bit tatty so went for a bit of an upgrade

Period correct 739 XT group set, 735 XT pedals and XTR 950 brakes.

Decided to go modern on the forks with the recons which seem to be the best you can get for V Brakes today

XTR 950 hubs on Mavic 717s and some kick ass Furious Freds on

Really pleased with it.

Just the handlebars and stems from the Eldridge Grade being Marin Lite Alloy.

Looks nice and fun to ride, always like a shinny Marin :)

Have you been out on it yet?

Oh, and you can add up to 8 pictures on a single post ;)

Re:

Yeah it’s light, tight and fun just like a Marin should be.

The hubs are super smooth and the shocks take the worry out of aged seals or elastomers on the Manitous.

Managed to get some XT 748 shifters which are the best 8 speed that Shimano did.

Only minor nause is the tie clips I had to add to stop the 951 XTR brakes from rattling. Cheaper than the upgrade!!!
