In a future near you...

Suicide pact? I'm in if that happens.

I might try self-exile to somewhere remote first :) or just somewhere with really slow Internet!

I saw the picture of the XTR Activator on here, but my therapist says I should be alright soon ;)

I wonder what the sales ratios are from back then compared to now. Exploding market then and shrinking violet now (for mtb sales)?

Re:

I don't think the mountain bike scene was the same for me after the big consolidation in the late 90's and early 00's - I think Trek's acquisition of all the medium sized brands, GT going bust, Cannondale's over expansion and the Taiwanese invasion made new MTBs unbearable for a while as the industry settled... that's how I remember it anyway - actual facts be damned!

Re:

I do have a slight yearning for a Santa Cruz Nomad/Bronson but not ridden one yet  They just look right to me and the reviews are good....but modern full sussers are are evolving so fast it will look dated very soon and no doubt become hopelessly ineffective. Much cheaper 3D printing and everything internalised in the frame will be next. Those clean lines and presumably much lighter weight will transform the next gen of bikes. We could all be using anti gravity motor Hover boards in 10yrs and cycling could be considered old hat who knows.
