Any idea what I,ll get hit for tax wise if I order some bits from aspire velotech?. Thinking of ordering some King hubs but I was wondering if its worth it.Are there savings to be made ?

Depends on how much cheaper they are in the first place.

Have bought a fair bit from the States but usually because it wasn't available here. Works out about the same if not more after customs have slapped it.

Asking the shop to mark as a gift usually won't help either as gifts are only under the value of £36 odd and then you'll have issue insuring it.

Basically, if it's not available, it might be worth it. to save a bit of cash, I'd shop around in europe.

Go-1 in France are quite cheap. And because they are inside the EU as well, you don't pay import duty.

aspirevelotech standard shipping is USPS. typically they massively undervalue the contents & you wont have any tax or import duty to pay. If you opt to pay the extra for fed-ex the delivery will get there much faster, a few days instead of 14 working days (USPS) but you'll have some import duty to pay.

5% import tax, then 17.5%Vat on cost of goods +carriage charges + Fedex handling fee.
Fedex think of a number and double it, and won't deliver till you pay . Claim it back later, but you'll need to be persistent.
UPS, USPS and DHL are more reasonable. Parcelforce are just plain dumb.

Hmmm! better get the calculator out :? Thanks for the responses

as long as you're prepared to wait 2weeks, for a pair of king hubs I'd use USPS & pay no duty of any kind.

USPS is much quicker than this. 4 or 5 days tops. You might be lucky, and it'll slip under the radar, but if you aren't, Parcelforce will demand cash or cheque upon delivery, and if you can't pay, will require you to pick the item up from the depot.

aspirevelotech mark items down for considerably lower insurance value. I had an item not arrive once, aspire simply sent me another.
you must be lucky in your delivery time with 5days.
