Import duty?

Anyone have a quick method of working out how much I would het stung if I got something for around 300 quid from the US? I got hot for 8 quid plus 8 quid in PO admon charges on a 42 quid purchase a few weeks ago but would like to know if an exact figure is doable.

depends on what the value of the item is. if over £18 then VAT is charged.
If the seller put an honest figure on the little green customs slip then £300 will charged VAT. That's if they pick it up. it may slip through. X fingers

Although slightly different when I'm importing for business purposes I always tend to add 25% of the value & shipping for VAT & duty etc.... May not be bang on but get's you in the ball park.
