Failing that, look around car boots etc for some Alu wheels. I'd really want them, what with the steep hills and wet roads you have. I used to live in Lanark, you have great rides on your doorstep.

the rims are chrome with wee 1.5inch Weinmann brake blocks - any suggestions as to how i might actually stop in the wet..... :?:

leather faced pads will be better on steel in the wet they give better purchase....

I've spent over budget getting all the bits so will have to wait

the wheels are in vgc - seems a shame not to use them
BTW - i'm no longer a 100mile/day club rider...........
