Right..
On my truck, the first position on the ignition just powers-up things like the lighter socket, stereo etc., position 2 powers-up the dash and heats the glow plugs, #3 kicks the starter into action..
I know that if I leave it in pos.2 I could damage the glow plugs (well, that's what I've been told) so.. bad idea..
But is there any damage I could cause by leaving it pos.1 while unattended?
Reason I ask is because the seriously cold weather randomly causes my (relatively new) battery to 'blip' and lose its' charge..
Usually if we've been doing a lot of short trips after dark..
I have a reasonably effective solar panel charger which may assist with this but it only works if the ignition is in pos.1 because it charges back through the cig lighter (which is only live in pos.1)
