If you hang it on the wall, does that make it art?....

I think by definition any man-made object that evokes an emotional response is "art". (I'm not 100% sure if there is such a thing as "natural art", although nature can certainly be beautiful).

Mechanical objects can be considered "functional art" or sculpture.

So yes, a beautiful bike that is displayed for the purposes of aesthetics can be considered art. Much like fine furniture, automobiles, watches, and musical instruments!

My Univega is hung on the wall in my workshop and I sometimes find myself standing staring at it so yes I think so...... But it has to be fully built or a collage of frames!

I'll never forget seeing some tube on a house porn programme with a Ducati 916 on his living room wall. Twat. It was just a Ducati 916 on a wall. It ought to have been in the garage or on the road. The 916 is a great design. Sticking one, or similar good design, on a wall does not make art.

An artistically placed broom on the other hand........

Post was intended very tongue in cheek :) ....just needed somewhere to put it tbh!

I remember an article in a magazine back in the 80's where an art gallery hung a Vitus Duralinox with full 600EX up as a work of art, so I suppose it depends on which wall you hang it
