...would you wait for a refund?

I purchased a Thomson stem from another forum, paid for it on April 8th (paypal gift, so no refund from Paypal)

It was posted on the 11th of April

Nothing has turned up at all.

Seller emailed a receipt for the stem, but no proof of postage.

Seller has told me he's put a claim in with Royal Mail around the 18th of April

I emailed him a week ago asking for a refund

No reply

So I emailed again, his response "They take 6 weeks from the date of complaint to resolve any issues with lost parcels. I am not giving you a refund until I hear it from them (Royal Mail) that you have not received the stem and are pulling a fast one"

However there is no way that Royal Mail can confirm that I haven't received the stem is there?

If I was the seller I'd have given the refund and then waited for Royal Mail to refund me.

Am I being unreasonable in persisting in asking for my money back before Royal Mail issue the seller a refund.

I reckon that it's already been 6 weeks since he supposedly started the claim with Royal Mail & I'm getting the feeling I've been fleeced.

Have I been too patient?

Would you issue a refund before Royal Mail refunded you if an item had gone missing in the post?

What would you do in this situation as the buyer of an item you had not received?

No he didn't, because you have to wait 15 working days from date of expected delivery, so they would have politely told him to get lost.

HE will need the POP to be able to claim from Royal mail, as it is the sellers responsibility until the item is in your hands (undamaged). You will be asked to assist with the claim by confirming non receipt, and the claim can only be for the price you paid not his purchase price (unless you meant he sent you the Paypal receipt for you payment)

It depends on how quickly both parties disclose the necessary info.

So would I

Depends how much of a c**t i could handle being known as on any relevant forums.

I would refund if the item hadn't been received in a reasonable time.. and, without proof of posting he may only get back a fraction of what he's claiming since that would mean no insurance?

Had a couple of bits go missing, on here and via ebay. Ebay was more problematic (and long-winded), sellers on here asked me to wait a reasonable time (in a can you give it til the end of the week way) and then hoofed the cash back.

I have received nothing from Royal Mail asking for my assistance with the claim.

He is on 2 forums that I know of, one of them likes to break out the pitchfork & witch hunt at the slightest provocation!

I guess I'll have to ask if he has proof of postage and the exact date of the claim with RM

When he emailed me a pic of the receipt I enquired about the POP, no reply was given.

Receipt was the right amount for the weight of the stem, but no address, or any other useful info on it.

Without the proof of postage, he won't get anything from the RM.

He should refund you.
Which is what I was thinking.

We send a lot of stuff out from work via RMail & only once have we had to fill in a claim form, so I kinda remember how it works, just needed to make sure.

wouldn't the receipt be a form of proof of posting?

Fairly sure I read that some compensation could be claimed with no insurance but it wasn't much..

Sorry.. edit to add.. it doesn't change that he should be refunding you if it's been sufficient time to suspect it's gone awol.
