I've had the same problem for about 15 years on my right nostril. It gets much worse though; after too much drink one night I threw up, I managed to cover my mouth and it shot out of my nose and eye. Very painful indeed.
I went to the docs with it and aparently its quite common and nothing to worry about.

I once woke up in a pub car park at about 2am after what must have been an Alien abduction with 'ectoplasm' all down my shirt.

Can't do anything fancy with snot though.
