Identify Raleigh frame

Hello all,

Hope you can help me! I’ve recently bought this bike. It’s a 531c frame but I can’t find a serial number on it other than BCM. Any ideas on the year it was made? Doesn’t have lugs for down tube shifters which seems unusual to me but perhaps isn’t… best, Thomas

"BCM" refers of the BOCAMA brand of framebuilding lugs

paint scheme screams "1984" but cycle appears earlier

wonder if it may be a respray...

Did any catalogue models come with that green/red/white oyster paint or was it only a SBDU color? The frame has 531c stickers but fender eyelets, no braze ons for brake cables or shifter mounts, top BB cable routing and vagner fork crown. Were any models like this? And it has no headbadge but a transfer.

Lugs have no cutouts and to me look lesser to that what a frame with 531c tubing usually would have.

Looks like a seventies frame to me. The absence of a serial number makes me doubt it being a Raleigh. The seatpost diameter should tell us whether the 531c decal could be legit.

Theres not even braze-ons for bottle cage or cable guides on the BB, transfers are crooked and there is green overspray on the brake bridge. Around the brake mounting hole on the fork it shows maybe the original moss green colour.
