Identify my orange

Dirt Disciple
I’ve just gotten my hands on this Orange, thought after scouring many forum threads still unsure what model it is.
I’m thinking a P7 from what I’ve read, but any professional advice would be great, as I’m sure you guys can identify it straight away. Also - is this a factory paint job or no? I can see a faint outline of a down tube decal, but could have just been over this finish at a later date.
Thanks!

Pop the frame nuber up and any other details (diamond bottle bosses, any none normal bosses, wheel hole boos on the back lower seattube etc.)

But not a prestige, so P7 is a good guess.
Serial will give the date you see. (A408.....)

Re:

Rare and original colour I think. I have seen a couple in that colour way, but only a couple. I had an equally unusual cherry red P7 which was fabulous - gold decals on metallic red, very high quality final lacquer coat. You could do a totally purple custom build but it would sear your retinas in the sun. Better a silver-purple thing I would think. My P7 was red frame - silver groupset. Didn’t want to let it go but workshop bonkers with bikes. For the purchaser (who is riding it, thank goodness) I retained the original groupset and put on white Michelin Wildgrippers. They looked rather good, I thought.

Yours

Hmmm....yours has a roller brazed-on mount for front mech and a C16-R style back brake stop. Still looks more P7 than anything else.

Re:

I thought I saw the bolt for the roller. hence targeting 1994.

Serial makes it a 1994 model so it's a P7, one of the earliest too.

Anyone else have other ideas?

Grief putting your purple one next to my old red one (which is now in Cheshire in a good home) would be a BAD colour combination. What were they thinking in Halifax?

Re:

Did orange apply powder coat, any year/models.

I believe this frame is powder coated. Where the white under shows on welds
and edges. Nail varnish style chips on bottle bosses.

Nice though, candy apple sort of colour.

Re:

Orange were powder coating by 94.

I had a C16 in this colour with orange decals. The bloke I bought it from said it was one of the first C16's in the country as he had a Clockwork on order but they ran out of stock so he got a first batch C16 instead.

The canti stop looks P7 to me though so that's where I'd put my money.
