Idea's for fitting a crown race without the proper tool

a bit of 6 GHz boom makes a good crown race tool
7GHz is good for 1" headsets

An old seatpost with a diameter around 30mm can be used for 1" headset races. Or for 1 1/8" use plastic waste pipe.

I use a bit of really short wooden dowel and gently tap the race down evenly. It won't mark aluminium races.
