Idea to help streamline selling on this forum

well if this is going to happen, then please do add a big section called.

NONE BLOODY RETRO STUFF (aka Modern)




Problem is, I'm sure most will agree, we tend not to look for specifics but just look at them all and window shop until something comes along that is interesting.

If there was anything specific you just post in the wanted section.

Fine as it its. no need for loads of categories, just gets painful to navigate. voting for current lucky dip, after all i wasn't even looking for another bike when I came here and now I have 2 retros, one of which built from lots bits from here.

What does help though as said, Descriptions in the title, sooo bored of reading list,,,and PICTURES, no pictures! :? photobucket host em and show us what ya got, curiously my pictures dont guarantee me many sales, so maybe thats the trick. :idea:

I think its an idea but i like finding stuff that i wasnt looking for and buying it and there are a lot of people on here that like this also (see pickles recent post)

Check http://www.southerndownhill.com for an example of how this can work, but of course modifications can be made as their format is still a bit messy.

most stuff I buy because I happen upon it, not because I'm specifically looking for it. I come across it because I hit "Posts since last visit" - to that end it doesn't matter how the hierarchy works as the view I have is unthreaded. If I want something sepcific, I'll do a search and select the for sale section as a parameter.

I just have a funny feeling it won't work, just like ebay's new search as it's just too fiddly and slow and people put things in the wrong categories anyway.

Top of a slippery slope this isn't it? Soon people will moan that forks needs to be split into suspension and rigid, and then suspension will need to be split by travel, rigid by axle to crown length.

Leave it as it is... If it ain't broke... etc

Maybe modern stuff could go to non bike classifieds. Ok appreciate its still bike stuff but.... Mods I reckon if someones posting tons of separate items delete them all and pm them. But I too like it messy, no sub sections. Pet hate is multiple boings, ok maybe a few but some have like a dozen boings, get the message no one wants it :twisted:
