What are they?

I keep passing by a seemingly abandoned, but locked up bike with some M735 XT bits on it (rear mech at least) in central Manchester with nothing but 'Ian May' written on the frame and the fork - I'm guessing a framebuilder?
Googling Ian May Cycles comes up with a bike shop over in Port Sunlight.

Just piques my interest as it's been sitting there so long, seems odd for what's clearly a rather nice bike, or was once.

I'll get a photo next time I pass by, it's on Oxford Road outside the Spar, been there a good while.

I've looked about a bit and everything I see is a road bike. It's an MTB...

It used to be a bike shop in bebington (by the train station), on the wirral near where I grew up.

Used to go down there to look at the GT's they had in stock, used to go in n get the catologue's, buy water bottles and other bits n pieces.

They did sell there own branded frame sets in various colours as well as multi colour neons, road and Mtb.

The bike shop went years ago it's now a women's hairdressers.
