I went to see a Nimrod land today

What I do not understand is why we still use the Nimrod, its based on the DeHaviland Comet which was the first jet airliner of the 1950's

In fact much of our RAF equipment is pretty old even the Tornado which is near 30 years old and the Harrier dates from the 70's, The last Canberra was decommissioned only a year or two ago and even the VC10 is only being fully retired now. RAF (Retro Air Force) just like us retrobikers :D

Funny you should say that...they have one of those Comets too which I saw taxi the other weekend... when they had run out of things to do! :D Oh and played around with a VC10 that was being stripped!....

Was thinking Duxford too... been ages since I went there, groovy kinda place 8)

Prefer it in airshow days when there's jet fighters in the sky. . plays havoc with me tinnitus though :?
