Water company posted us the other day.......your water will be off for 3/4 of a day on Fri..............So they turn up today Thur, spent 2 hours digging up then their off ! that's it. There was 6 of them 4 to put signs out in a 100 yard range and 2 to dig the hole.

This is the good bit...........a secret supervisor turned up before them, sat in his car and watched them, when they buggered off he got out his car and measured the hole to check they are sticking to protocol, then he sat back in his car and waited for them to come back............they didn't. Ooooh they are gonna have a nice suprise

Still better than last time.........last time they turned up and put barriers up for 3 days and a big board on the floor to cover up the hole that they had not dug.......yup they put a board over ' no hole' not even a dent in the tarmac ! I saw their cheif turn up and lift the board and his face said it all.

That's why we pay such big water bills,because we are paying for ' a freaking clown show'..........

I am currently at war with my water supplier due to unreasonable bills, £66 a month for a single occupant, I dispute that figure and can't afford to pay it anyway, but according to the CAB, there are many who are having the same problem in my area, the water board is ripping us off with impunity, and all this is being permitted.

I just want to know what happened to the promise of competition to give us a better service way back when the water was sold off to private interests and the numbskull ideology that sold it wants to sell more public assets without first fixing the problems created by the last sell off twenty years ago.

You'd be suprised and horrorfied at just whats tolerated by utility companies.
I wouldn't be suprised to learn the supervisor new they wouldn't come back, making that site an ideal hiding position for him.

Im with silverclaws down here, i think we pay the highest in the country?

However, when i rang them recently i was rather impressed with the £38 a month for 2 people and a baby in 2 bedroom masionette.

I have found them to be pretty helpful, i guess thats not the case with you.

ooh their back this morn............3 people to stand around, one big fat one leaning against a wall , one walking around on his phone, one in a nice clean jacket (official) leaning on wall, and then 2 guys in a hole doing the work.


Now i see how it works, instead of having people trained to dig and repair, they have trained ' diggers' and trained 'fixers'.

So the 'hole people' did the hole then come back to fill it in, while the fixers just fix things.....it's like 'fraggle rock'

The one in the clean coat took a picture of the pipe that came out.

So to recap, instead of 2 people digging a hole and putting signs out 1 1/2 hours and 15minutes to replace the section of pipe.

It's taken 6 people on the first day plus a hidden inspector (7)
And 5 people on the second day.

That's a lot of wages for a 2 man job that could have been done on the day :shock: :shock:
